How to Make Homemade Horse Treats . . .
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Empty the pouch into a bowl. Add warm water one tablespoon at a time, starting with ¼ cup. Apple needs less water than our other flavors. Stop when a thick dough forms.
- Roll into 1-inch balls and press flat to ½ inch — or use your favorite cookie cutter.
- Bake 20–25 minutes until firm and lightly golden at the edges.
- Cool completely — at least 30 minutes. Then watch the ears go forward.
Makes 6–10 treats . . . baked with love by you.
Feeding
Feed as a treat only — 1 to 3 treats per day depending on horse size. Not a complete feed. Treats should not exceed 10% of the daily diet. Always provide fresh water. If your horse has EMS, PPID/Cushing’s, or a history of laminitis, check with your vet first.
Storage
The sealed pouch keeps 12 months in a cool, dry place. Use within 30 days after opening. Baked treats keep up to 5 days at room temperature in a paper bag — do not seal airtight. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months.
